Hinge Types
Barnsdale casement windows are fitted with a range of high quality hinges, manufactured from austenitic steel for extra durability. These hinges offer a range of different opening options.
The standard friction hinge offers a range of standard features to ensure ease of use and durability of the friction system. This hinge has been tested to 30,000 cycles, and has a patented lip slider and no metal to metal contact, to minimise friction. This standard hinge can be fitted in 6, 8, 10, 12, 16, 20 and 24 inch top hung and 12 and 16 inch side hung options, ensuring availability to a wide range of our casement windows. |

The restrictor friction hinge provides a minimised initial opening angle for child safety. A built-in quick release lever allows a wide opening angle, as with the standard hinge. The restrictor also automatically resets when the window is closed. This hinge is available in 12, 16, 20 and 24 inch top hung and 12 and 16 inch side hung options. |

The egress friction hinge allows the window to open to up to 90 degrees, providing an emergency exit. The egress hinge also allows easy cleaning from the inside of the building with its release mechanism. This hinge is only available for side hung casement windows and is available in 12 and 16 inch options. |
If you require a fully reversible casement, see our C3 Fully Reversible Casement range.
Fire Escape
We have a number of options for windows required as fire escapes, to allow the appearance to match with existing windows or the selected replacement window style.
Egress : allows the window to open to up to 90 degrees.
French Window : This option is very useful on narrow windows where if you had a fixed false mullion you would loose a large proportation of glass. By removing the mullion and having the two sides meet together it increases the glass area. Both sides open outward to give you a large opening area. This can be useful for a fire escape.
False Mullion : This is similar to a french casement above although a false mullion is attached to the slave sash meaning it matched the design of any windows fitted with a mullion.
