Historic Timber Sliding Sash Windows

For the restoration of listed properties, our focus is to provide a timber sliding sash window that accurately matches the original. With narrow sash rails and thin frames, our historic timber sliding sash windows sit perfectly in the original opening.

Similarly, for redevelopments and new builds in a conservation area, we will work with clients to manufacture sliding sash windows which are sympathetic in appearance to neighbouring properties. This ensures that the visual impact of any development is minimised and is very much in keeping to the specific area. We have in-depth experience of this approach from the façade restoration projects that we have worked on – see our Case Studies section for further information.

As part of our Historic Range we offer a box sliding sash window with cords and weights, which is the traditional way for the window to operate. There is also a sash spring balance window which has narrower jamb profiles if required. For a precise match to the original window, we offer a number of horn styles and authentic window furniture. In addition, we can manufacture to bespoke design needs.

For excellent weather performance our historic timber sliding sash windows incorporate dual weather seals. Discreetly positioned and air-tight they do not detract from the authentic appearance of the window. High levels of security are provided by sash stops and locking sash fasteners.

Working with leading glazing suppliers we offer narrow cavity glazing (also commonly referred to as 'slim insulated glazing'), Pilkington Spacia (vacuum glass) glazing and single glazing. The glazing option that you choose will depend upon the conservation planning, performance requirements and the allocated budget.
