Historic Wooden Casement Windows

We have designed our historic casement windows to perfectly complement the heritage and aesthetic appeal of historic homes. A number of period features have been incorporated into the design including narrow profiles and butt hinges.

Our historic casement windows can be fitted with narrow cavity double-glazing or single-glazing. Narrow cavity double-glazing is often favoured in listed buildings and those properties in a conservation area because it provides a compromise between energy efficiency and sympathetic replacement. We often work with homeowners in providing detail of our glazing options to Conservation Officers. Working together we can ensure that the best possible balance between comfort and authenticity is struck.

If required, our glazing units can incorporate hand or machine drawn glass. Based upon original techniques, these glazing options replicate the distorted reflections provided by crown and machine rolled glass. Whilst we can provide these options, sometimes hand and machine drawn glass prove very costly. Where possible, we would advise that you speak with your Conservation Officer before you explore these options.

As is the case for the casement windows in our Traditional Range, our historic casement windows are designed with security and excellent weather performance in mind. All windows incorporate concealed weather seals to help to retain warmth and exclude noise and moisture. And, rather than trusting the robustness of a single locking point, our historic casement windows incorporate a multi-point locking system.

Casement Stays

As standard our side hung casement window designs are fitted with period matching casement stays and handles which operate the multi-point locking. We offer a number of casement window handles and casement stays to ensure you get the exact look that you require.

Timber Coating Ral Colour Options

Paint and Stain Colours

For further customisation we offer an extensive selection of paint and stain colours. If the colour that you require is not included in our selection, then we do offer a colour matching service. To colour match we would require either a RAL reference or a physical sample.

High Security

Rather than trusting the robustness of a single locking point, our casement window design incorporates multiple locking points, including shootbolts, This provides a high degree of security while ensuring a snug, weatherproof fit.

Excellent Weather Performance

Concealed dual weather seals contribute to the window’s outstanding performance. Discreetly positioned to not detract from the authentic appearance, the weather seals help to retain warmth and exclude noise and moisture.

Original Glazing Methods

To exactly replicate the aesthetics and the production methods of the original window, we have developed an external putty glazing system. Utilising modern materials to maximise performance, we are able to award a five year guarantee against glazing unit failure on all external puttied installations.
