George Barnsdale manufactured and supplied ‘A’ rated flush casement high security (tested to PAS 24) timber windows and french doorset.
Rowland Cottage in Claypole, Lincolnshire, is a four bedroom period property that has been extensively renovated and reformed to provide a luxury characterful home. Formerly a set of three farmers’ cottages, it has been extended to incorporate the former smithy and joinery workshop attached to the building.
Developed by Tannhauser Property Ltd, a specialist in complex renovations and one-off developments, the property is situated on the edge of a conservation area and has been derelict for ten years having been gutted by the previous builder.
Due to its historical significance, the Conservation Officer and local planning officers specified that the original aesthetic of the building be retained and sympathetically restored. The developers have worked hard to restore the building to its former glory and re-introduce period features including the restoration of the original brickwork, matching cast iron drainage and the installation of timber windows and doors.
Commenting on the project, Scott Allan from Tannhauser said “It was very important to us that we used timber windows and had planned from the start to finish these in British Conservation Green to provide a focal point to the exterior and avoid white uPVC.”
George Barnsdale Ltd, based in Donington, Lincolnshire was chosen to supply a range of timber flush casement windows and a french door set. All products were painted in RAL 7032 to match British Conservation Green and furnished with black pear drop handles on the windows and black Avon handles to the doors.
This is the first time that Tannhauser Property has used George Barnsdale for timber windows and doors and they are delighted: “The overall customer service from initial contact through to delivery has been excellent. The quality of the products and attention to detail including the after-care materials have exceeded our previous supplier. We have had consistently positive feedback from the point of install from everyone visiting site and from the local residents on the look of the building, specifically the windows, colour and finish.”
George Barnsdale’s windows and doors are manufactured in the UK to the highest standards following extensive and ongoing research to ensure products last 60 years or more, do not require recoating for ten years (with minimal maintenance) and perform to the highest thermal and acoustic levels. The company’s unique four stage microporous paint process provides the optimal finish that lasts and provides maximum protection to the timber.
