Project Description

Huller and Cheese is a new development of contemporary riverside apartments and commercial office space by Generator South West. The development was of two buildings overlooking Bristol’s Floating Harbour – Huller House and the Cheese Warehouse.

Huller House is a Grade II listed building and the adjacent Cheese Warehouse has been identified as a building of special architectural interest. The buildings were two of the last remaining to be converted along the vibrant harbour, having stood vacant for nearly twenty years.

Because of our experience in the fenestration needs of sympathetic conversions, George Barnsdale were awarded the manufacture package for Huller House. Working with the main contractor, Dawnus Construction, we manufactured a variety of timber pivot windows and French patio doors. Both were sourced from our Traditional Range of timber windows and doors, which combines period styling with exceptional performance.

Whilst pivot windows are quite a modern window design, they have been adapted to meet the heritage needs of Huller House; incorporating a pencil round glazing bead and a 21mm pencil astragal bar. To ensure the development fits with its stylish harbour side location, the windows were finished in a dual colour paint coating – Tarpaulin Grey (RAL 7010) to the exterior and White (RAL 9016) to the interior. As standard in our Traditional Range, the pivot windows incorporate a simple opening mechanism that allows the cleaning of the glass from within, making them ideal for multi-storey residential developments.

To match the pivot window design, all French doors feature a pencil round glazing bar and a 21mm pencil astragal bar. For high security, the doorsets incorporate multi-point locking and advanced cylinder locks.
