George Barnsdale Becomes Corporate Sponsor of Woodland Trust
As part of its ongonig sustainability agenda, George Barnsdale is delighted to announce that it has become a corporate sponsor of the Woodland Trust, the UK’s largest woodland conservation charity.
As a manufacturer of solely timber windows and doors, the company has always understood the importance of sustainability and only uses FSC certified timber for its products. Alongside this, the company is commited to reducing its carbon footprint with a number of initiatives like timber optimisation to reduce timber waste though software driven machinery that automatically optimises the cross cutting of each plank. Anything that is wasted is turned into briquettes onsite and is used to heat the factory and offices. In addition, there are mechanisms to reduce electricity using invertors on extraction fans and compressors to ensure they run at minimum speeds as well as using high pressure water instead of boiling water in the humidification system plus solar panels and a range of other initiatives.
Commenting on the sponsorship of The Woodland Trust, Tom Wright, Managing Director of George Barnsdale said:”We are delighted to support the Woodland Trust which does amazing work to promote the protection of our woodland and the planting of trees as part of the carbon capture initiative to help reduce global warming. We are committed to reducing our own carbon footprint and being UK based we can help our customers reduce theirs too.”
