Timber Stable Doors
Our timber stable door designs replicate the traditional barn-style entrance that is especially suited to cottages and farmhouses. Known as a Dutch door in America or half door in some parts of the UK, a stable door is a door that is divided horizontally to allow the bottom to remain in situ, whilst the top opens, kind of a mix between a door and window.
It is perfect to keep small children and pets in place, yet allowing fresh air and light in. It has also been known as a double hung door, but we prefer stable door.
Suitable for replacement and traditional new builds, our stable doors provide high levels of customisation with a choice of paint, stain and door furniture options.
If the colour coating you require is not included in our standard options then we can match a physical sample of branded paint colour. We can also provide doorsets in dual colour, allowing the exterior to be a different colour to the interior.
Similar to all of the timber doors that we manufacture, our timber stable door incorporates multi-point locking and cylinder locks that meet the TS007 3 Star British Kitemark and the SS312 Sold Secure diamond standards

Multi-Point Locking (for High Security)
With a number of locking points distributed around the edge of the door, the multi-point locking system engages all bolts when either the handle is operated.
Advanced Cylinder Locks (For High Security)
We only fit cylinder locks that meet the TS007 3 Star British Kitemark and the SS312 Sold Secure diamond standards (the highest rating in both schemes). We also offer a number of key options including ‘keying alike’ and ‘master keying’.
Security Laminated Glass (For High Security)
To meet the challenging standards of PAS 24 and the Building Regulations 2015: Security-Dwellings (Approved Document Q), all stable doors can be specified with security laminated glass.
Concealed Gasket and Sealing Plugs (Excellent Weather Performance)
Concealed and sealing plugs between the door and the frame provide excellent performance against the elements.
Adjustable Hinges (For ease of operation)
To ensure that the door is perfectly positioned for easy operation, our timber stable door designs incorporate adjustable hinges that allow the door to be set after installation. In addition, an adjustable lock keep helps to maintain the perfect balance between ease of closing and tight weathersealing.
Authentic Locking System (For accurate matching)
The top door is operated in the same way as our standard locking system with a handle on each side. The lower door has a cylinder operated by a key externally and a thumb turn internally.
Traditional Stable Doors
Designed for renovation and traditional new build projects, our Traditional Range combines period-matching styling with exceptional performance.
Our Traditional timber stable doors can incorporate double-glazing and are internally beaded for enhanced weather and security performance. Astragal bars can be incorporated in the design for period detailing.
Historic Stable Doors
To meet the needs of listed properties and those located in a Conservation Area, the Historic Range provides sympathetic replacement though accurate period design and original glazing methods.
For an accurate match to the original we offer high levels of customisation, including hand and machine drawn glass. These types of glass mimic the reflections and irregularities given by imperfect crown or cylinder glass.
